HYLAND PARK

THE BRIEF

We were asked to create a family home for those that work in the city but want good access to the countryside and rural locations.

INSPIRATION

The location and target market of the property were our biggest influences when designing this property. We wanted to create a home ideal for potential buyers looking for the best of both worlds; easy access to London and the benefit of countryside and lots of space. However, we wanted it to be attractive to downsizers and first time buyers too, therefore created a design scheme that was family-friendly but also elegant.

THE DESIGN

The design of this home needed to be versatile, so to make sure we got the balance right we chose luxury elements such as wallpaper, velvets, and deep, rich colours and paired them with slightly more family-friendly options such as oak and white lacquered finishes and thick textiles.

In the living room we kept things neutral with the sofa and walls, but added a touch of luxury in the velvet stool and vibrant wallpaper.

In the master bedroom we used a three-panel headboard so the room felt minimal but elegant.

The blue colour and the furniture pieces of the second bedroom were chosen to suit either a teenager’s room or a guest bedroom.

And, the third bedroom was styled for a little girl, with the pink and muted colour palette and the fun mustard yellow canopy over the bed.
