THE BRIEF
The developer, Ashbury Homes, asked us to create an inspirational showhome targeting families and downsizers at their prestigious development of new homes in Kent.
INSPIRATION
The rolling hills and rural lifestyle inspired our country home creation with a contemporary twist.
THE DESIGN
The living area features cosy, oversized upholstery in a collection of warming velvets and tactile textures. The smoked blue velvet sofa is teamed with tribal print linen cushions and a deep buttoned ottoman, styled with stacks of books and decorative accessories. Textile inspired wallpapers wrap the room in varying tones of cream and dark blue for added warmth.
The kitchen has been furnished with a family in mind. The dining table features a practical rustic chevron timber top, styled with contemporary tableware and botanicals, married with navy blue upholstered chairs, and the walls are painted in a natural tone with the main wall papered in a contemporary grey wood effect hexagonal design, styled with family inspired photography for personal effect.
Each bedroom has been designed with a specific family member in mind. The master bedroom features a fully upholstered headboard wall with a tranquil colour palette accented with luxurious brass and dark timber finishes to create an all-encompassing haven for the parents of the house.
The second bedroom has been designed for guests with walnut timber, fossil effect wallpaper and nature themed artwork reflecting the local environment. We created a bright, calming space with a scandi twist for the teenage daughter’s bedroom; the bespoke headboard upholstered in a geometric embossed velvet, suspended by tanned leather straps provides a strong focal point. The furniture is finished in a natural oak veneer and is styled with an eclectic mix of botanicals and female accessories.
In the young children's room we painted the walls in a bold green and contrasted them beautifully with the unique hand drawn safari print wallpaper. The tipi tent style bed is dressed in sweet animal print textiles and decorative garlands. The outdoor theme continues with the styling details including the woven floor rug and brass hare wall hooks.
