MAYBREY WORKS

THE BRIEF

We were asked to create a showhome with a modern industrial look designed to attract young professionals and first-time buyers who want to be close to Central London and The City.

INSPIRATION

We drew inspiration from the local area, the target audience and the client’s brief. This inspired us to create a design scheme that used masculine touches such as leather upholstery and oak furniture, combined with dark paint colours.

THE DESIGN

In the hallway, we painted the walls and ceiling a dark colour to set the moody, masculine tone of the property and to make the space feel wrapped in colour and warmth. We added the metal accessories on the wall to appeal to the target buyers and we hung the large mirror to reflect light and to make the space feel larger.

We continued the industrial feel in the living area by using a concrete effect wallpaper and paired it with solid wooden furniture and modern artwork. To keep the room balanced and inviting we used a warm neutral colour on the opposing wall and added soft textured fabrics, faux fur cushions, and a mix of botanicals.

In the master bedroom we chose a leather pillow-backed headboard to create a statement look and on the opposite wall hung a large mirror above the desk area, the perfect spot for a young professional working from home. We added striking bedside tables that had a studded detail and balanced the look with soft velvet cushions and indoor plants.

In the second bedroom, we opted for another bold headboard; this time in a black leather design and paired this with brown leather cushions and soft linen bedding to create a welcoming space. The black bedside tables and modern table lamps continue the industrial feel and are complemented by the neutral wall colour. We also added some simple black colour blocking and shelves in this area to create a separate workspace.
