Stratford Studios: A BTR case study

Stratford Studios is located within a diverse and energetic part of East London. Originally named Stratford Office Village it previously housed many small businesses. Now, it comprises of 160 studio apartments and communal spaces including a lounge and cinema area, a private reading corner, a dining and kitchen space, and a work hub.


Instructed by JLL, we were asked to complete the design and installation of two showhomes, 150 studio apartments, and the communal areas.


When designing the spaces, we took inspiration from the local area’s vibrancy and green spaces, while adding touches to reflect the building’s industrial edge.

In the communal areas, we created four zones for residents to work, socialise and feel at home. These zones all have their own look and feel, and balance perfectly to create a cohesive space.


We combined masculine touches such as leather upholstery and wooden furniture to reflect the industrial feel of the property and paired them with softer, luxe details such as the blue velvet sofas and floral arrangements to create a welcoming feel.

In the styled studio apartments, we used muted design-led furniture pieces and added pops of colour through decorative accessories and patterned floor rugs for an eclectic look. The colours used were reflective of the local culture and vibrant east London social scene, as well as the regeneration of the local area.



Samuel Lewis-Clinton, Group Sales Director at INVESTA says: “The development is split into many small blocks with unique layouts of apartments in each. Every apartment is slightly different, and it was our job to maximise the space and show them in their best light.


“We’ve had great feedback on the apartments so far and 70 units were rented within six weeks of being available!”
