GOODS YARD
THE BRIEF
To create a unique two bed showhome that would appeal to the first-time buyer market.
INSPIRATION
We knew our client typically likes brave schemes that challenge and stand-out against other developments on the market, so we wanted to create a design that was exciting and memorable.
The marketing suite had an industrial aesthetic, so we wanted this to carry through into the showhome.
We designed the apartment for first time buyers that like to travel but also have a place to call home, so we pulled inspiration from the ocean and exotic countries, while adding cosy and homely touches.
THE DESIGN
Throughout the apartment we used tonal paint shades to bring in the influences from other countries. We used the accent colour of mustard and yellow throughout to echo that feeling of being on holiday and having fun. We added contrasting textures and art to ensure there were elements that would excite the client.
In the hallway we used bold colour blocking to create a dramatic entrance with industrial black metal finishes.
In bedroom one we wanted to emulate a fun and creative space that still had a sophisticated feel so used an eye-catching colour scheme against a luxurious hotel-style headboard.
We wanted to evoke the same atmosphere in the second bedroom so used a patterned fabric headboard against an electric blue wall colour. The mid-century chest of drawers added an industrial edge to the room, but the light finish of the wood ensured the room remained balanced and calm.
Throughout the apartment we used details and accessories such as books, travel-inspired art, and fun cocktails to attract a young, first time buyer that likes to entertain, spend time at home, and travel.
